1. What This Page Covers

This page explains what cookies and browser storage fairviewroleplay.xyz uses, and why. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers what account and verification data we collect more broadly.

2. Essential Cookies

We use one first-party session cookie to keep you logged in with Discord:

• fv_session_v3 - identifies your logged-in session so the dashboard, profile editor, and staff tools know who you are. It's set when you log in with Discord and cleared when you log out or it expires.

This cookie is required for the Service to function. We don't offer a way to browse the site logged in without it, since that's what login means.

3. Browser Storage (localStorage / sessionStorage)

Beyond cookies, we use a small amount of local browser storage that never leaves your device:

• Login state cache (sessionStorage) - remembers whether you were logged in on the last page so the navigation bar doesn't flash a loading state every time you switch pages. It's cleared automatically when you close the tab, and immediately when you log out.
• Cookie notice acknowledgement (localStorage) - remembers that you've dismissed this notice so we don't show it again.
• Staff application drafts (sessionStorage) - while you're filling out a staff application on the Apply page, your in-progress answers are saved locally as you type so a page reload doesn't lose your progress. A copy is also autosaved to our servers, tied to your account, so your draft survives closing the tab or coming back on a different device - see the note below.
• Interface preferences - things like your chosen profile theme are saved with your account, not in browser storage, but small UI state (like whether a panel is expanded) may be kept locally on some pages.

Unlike the other items above, the server-side copy of an application draft isn't purely local browser storage - it's account data. It's stored only long enough to be useful: it's deleted the moment you submit the application, and any draft abandoned without being submitted is automatically deleted after 30 days.

4. What We Don't Use

We don't use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or analytics cookies that follow you across other websites. We don't sell or share cookie data with anyone.

5. IP and Device Data

Separately from cookies, IP address and basic device/browser metadata are logged at verification time for fraud and abuse prevention (VPN/proxy detection, duplicate account detection). This is covered in detail in our Privacy Policy and is not stored as a cookie.

6. Managing Cookies

You can clear cookies and site data for fairviewroleplay.xyz at any time through your browser's settings. Doing so will log you out and reset any locally remembered preferences. Blocking the session cookie entirely will prevent you from staying logged in.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as the Service changes. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
